For the first time of his carer Clay Matthews will not be a Packer in 2019.

Edge rusher Clay Matthews and The Los Angeles Rams have agreed on a two-year deal worth a maximum of $16.75 million according to Mike Garafolo.

Last season Matthews recorded 3.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hits in 16 games. Over the past couple years Matthews numbers have dipped significantly. The Rams a return to Southern California where he played his college football at USC will help him find his once dominant form.

Matthews spent ten seasons with the Green Bay Packers, posting 83.5 sacks, earning six Pro Bowls, and was named the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year.

With his best days behind, Matthews still could help the Rams with pressure from the edge. The six-time Pro Bowler will bring experience and toughness to a team that lacks pressure from the edge. Matthews experience will play big with helping young edge rusher, Dante Fowler.

Defensive Aaron Donald will take on the attention inside, so it should free Matthews up with some one on one situations, and his sack numbers should rise back up.
