The Washington Redskins are signing star free agent safety Landon Collins, per ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

It’s a massive six-year deal that will pay Collins $84 million when all is said and done, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. The terms of the contract guarantee Collins $45 million, which will be paid out over the first three seasons.

Collins, a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time First-Team All-Pro, started all 12 of the games he played in last season, forcing a fumble, defending a pass, and making 96 tackles.

The second-round pick out of Alabama was the New York Giants’ top candidate to be franchise tagged, but in the end, the Giants chose to let him walk.

The contract analysts at Spotrac projected Collins to receive a five-year deal worth $43.3 million, with an average annual value of just $6.3 million, which was absolutely shattered by Collins signing a deal with an average annual value of $14 million.

Collins is sure to have an immediate impact with Washington upon joining the team as he stays in the NFC East, heading to his former rivals in our nation’s capital.
