Recently Re-Signed Tavarus Dantzler Ready for Round 2 With Pirates
Tavarus Dantzler is back for his second stint with the Massachusetts Pirates.
After the Pirates were eliminated in the National Arena League Semi Finals last season, Dantzler said it was important to come back and try to take one step further this season.
“It was really important to re-sign,” Dantzler, who’s season was cut short with a knee injury, said. “Especially with how close we was the season before so it was a big thing.”
Recovering from an injury is never easy, but now at full strength, Dantzler has spent the offseason working on improving his game, more so his speed.
“Just working on my motor and just going at it every play,” Dantzler said. “Just overall speed, bringing energy to the [DCU Center] and what not, just being that spark plug on the defense, just running around hitting people, having fun with the game, and getting the crowd into it.”
Dantzler has also taken great lengths to improve his performance, implementing a diet plan that includes a lot of muscle building meals. He has also turned to practicing yoga to help his movement.
“I’ve been eating differently, the less late the better, like chicken, turkey, fish, things of that nature,” Dantzler said. “Yoga has really helped me a lot this offseason just with the hip flexibility.”
Dantzler recorded 19.5 total tackles this past season and is one of the many players getting ready for opening day against the Carolina Cobras on April 13.
