2019 Fantasy Football Week 13: IDP Report

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed plenty of food, football, and family! Here is to also hope those three Turkey Day games didn’t put you into a whole and they started your week off great and is helping you get that final playoff spot you’re fighting for. Let’s dive quickly into last week’s report and then dig into the leftovers.

Javon Hargrave had a quiet night with only four tackles.

Nathan Gerry performed well with six tackles, a fumble recovery, and half a sack.

Eddie Jackson had a game with six tackles.

Then my sleeper, Brennan Scarlett, finished with six total tackles.

I like both Gerry and Scarlett to continue to be nice flex plays in deeper leagues while Jackson and Hargrove have been steadily good starts in their positions. Since week nine Jackson has progressed with that Bears defense struggling and seeing more field time. Hargrove was getting the snaps, but last week only play 39 snaps compared to the 50 plus snaps the previous three weeks. Should get back to 50 plus against the Browns if you need another week out of him. Onto week 13!

Defensive Line

Everson Griffen, Minnesota Vikings

I like Griffin for week 13, he’s been performing strongly for the 2019 season. He’s managed five sacks in his last seven games and at least a half-sack in five straight games. He’s got 36 total tackles with an interception on the year and leads the team in quarterback hits with 20. Now he draws the run-heavy offense on Seattle after getting some rest from a bye week. He has must start potential for week 13.

Linebacker

Jayon Brown, Tennessee Titans

Coming off his best game of the season, Brown had 15 total tackles (11 solo) against the Jaguars. Even though a groin injury caused him to miss weeks seven and 10, he comes back playing 84 snaps last week. He plays against the Colts this week, they allowed both Benardrick McKinney and Zach Cunningham to accumulate a combined 27 total tackles last Thursday night. I like his matchup this week.

Defensive Back

Jalen Thompson, Arizona Cardinals

Taking advantage of an opportunity, Thompson has proved to be a starter for the Cardinals defense after the release of D.J. Swearinger. He was splitting the snaps with fellow defensive back Deionte Thompson till about two games ago when he took over the role. He’s played 97 percent of the snaps in those two weeks with 82 snaps week 10 and 76 snaps in week 11. At that time, he had 11 total tackles and his first career interception. While getting most of the field time on a bad defense that faces 67 offensive snaps per game, he gets a nice matchup against a Rams offense that has struggled to move the ball as of late. Jared Goff has been abysmal and their run game has been nonexistent. Thompson could continue to prove his role as a starter going into week 13.

Sleeper

Derwin James, DB, Los Angeles Chargers

James returns after suffering a stress fracture in his foot during the offseason. He’s a great talent and should knock the rust off rather quickly. He gets a Denver offense that looks like they will start rookie quarterback Drew Lock for his first career start and last week Denver had a horrific game with only 134 offensive yards. What better chance to come back and make a splash right away? Make sure to steal him now this late into the season.

I hope you had a great holiday week and getting ready for playoffs! Good luck to everyone and go get ‘em!
