With week 10 in our sights and playoffs shaping up, now is the time to find those IDP players to get you there. If you’re just beginning this journey in IDP or a seasoned vet, you know the toll that extra research can be. Some find it insane to worry about both sides of the ball, but to me, IDP fantasy players find the joy of the insanity that is IDP. It’s just fun and challenging. So, what if you had a bad offensive side draft, those IDP guys can keep you afloat while you make the moves you need to, to make your teams better. Keep grinding through, those extra points can win you your league rest of the season. Time to dig into the recap from last week.
It was a very quiet week nine for the report. Roderic Teamer was listed OUT for the game and while some people pointed it out, yes, I know he was on the injury report, I write this on Tuesday and gets posted on Wednesday. So, it’s a hit or miss in that situation. Though he needs to be stashed for when he comes back. Matt Ioannidis had a decent game notching four tackles and a complimentary sack against Buffalo. In the same game, Jonathan Bostic made only four tackles on the day. Then Olivier Vernon has a quiet two tackles and a sack for his game facing Denver. So, like I said a very quiet weekend but on to week 10 and who I’m looking at to get that playoff push started.
Defensive Line
Chris Jones, Kansas City Chiefs
Jones had a nice game against Minnesota after missing the three previous games. It seemed he knocked the rust off and got to it with three total tackles with one being for loss and recorded a sack. Now with a favorable matchup Sunday facing Tennessee, he’s in a nice spot to gain momentum and pick up the production. The Titans are allowing the most fantasy points to defensive linemen through nine weeks. They’ve given up 27 sacks on the year and with the 60 plus percentage snap rate for Jones. He should continue to see that volume or progressively rise to more. I look to see Jones add another sack this week.
Linebacker
Justin Houston, Indianapolis Colts
With Miami coming to town Sunday, Houston is in a great spot to continue his sack streak. The Dolphins are the third-worst in pass protection for 2019. They are giving up an average four sacks a game and the Colts are managing 2.5 sack a game. Not to mention, the offensive line as a whole is just bad and they are down to their third running back. Plug Houston in for this week.
Defensive Back
Erik Harris, Oakland Raiders (Thursday Night Football)
Harris is someone I’ve had my eye one since week four with his six tackles, one interception, and pick-six performance against the Colts. Since then he is averaging almost 6 to 7 tackles a game. He continues to get the snap count and played 100 percent this past Sunday against the Lions. Now he gets a Chargers’ offense that just surrendered 19 total tackles to the Packers’ safeties. Harris is in a prime spot to make an impact Sunday against the Chargers.
Sleeper
Joe Walker, LB, Arizona Cardinals
Walker is coming off the best game of his career with notching 11 tackles (1.5 for loss) on Sunday facing the 49ers. Even though he only played 42 snaps (57%) during the game, he made his playing time worth it. He has earned himself a starting role on the defense going forward. Now he has a nice matchup against Tampa Bay coming up who has had its fits facing linebackers as of late. The Buccaneers in the past three weeks have allowed on average 32 fantasy points to opposing split linebackers. For the season they give up the ninth most fantasy points to opposing linebackers. Walker could very well be in line for another one.
Always reach out with your IDP questions anytime! With six teams on bye for the week, some options might be slim. Good luck and go get ‘em!
