2019 Arena Football League Season Preview

There is much new with the Arena Football League heading into their 32nd season. The headquarters are in Philadelphia after being in Las Vegas for decades. There is also a new ball, new logo and a new team, as well as a returning team.

The Columbus Destroyers are back after playing from 2004-2008. Their new head coach is former quarterback Matthew Sauk. The newest addition to the league, the Atlantic City Blackjacks, are coached by Ron James with Tampa Bay Storm all-time leading passer Shane Stafford taking over as offensive coordinator.

The Philadelphia Soul will be looking to win their third title in four seasons to earn the crown of a dynasty. They’ve brought back most of their roster from their last two championship runs.

The Albany Empire are looking to bounce back after missing the ArenaBowl despite finishing with the best record in the league last season. They’ve also brought back most of their roster from last season.

Baltimore made one of the biggest off-season transactions, acquiring star receiver Joe Hills. They will be looking to make it back to the ArenaBowl after losing last season in ArenaBowl XXXI.

The defending champion Washington Valor are looking to do more than just become the first repeat champion since the Soul in 2016 and 2017. They’re going to be looking to win more than two games for the first time. They’ve won just two regular season games each of the last two seasons. The way their roster is set up, they have a good chance at doing just that.

The road to ArenaBowl XXXII kicks off tomorrow night with a rematch of ArenaBowl XXXI when the Brigade host the Valor. ArenaBowl XXXII will be played on Saturday, Aug. 10.
