After a franchise-best record of 108 wins, the Boston Red Sox have won the 2018 World Series.

After an eventful year full of ups and downs, the Red Sox battled their way throughout the playoffs beating rivals New York Yankees, Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the franchises ninth World Series, the fourth since 2004.

The Red Sox took the first two games at home against the Dodgers, beating them 8-4 and then 4-2 before heading to LA.

Game Three was the most eventful as it went on to become the longest game in World Series history, going 18 innings with the Dodgers hitting a walk-off solo home run to win in 3-2 after seven hours and 20 minutes of baseball.

The Red Sox did not let it hurt them as they came back from 4-0 down in Game 4, and got a 9-6 victory with one game left to win.

Boston came out with a killing instinct in Game 5, as Steve Pearce blasted a two-run home run to center to give the Sox a 2-0 lead in the first inning. David Price’s first pitch got launched into the stands by David Freese, cutting the deficit in half at 2-1.

But the Sox piled on more runs from a Mookie Betts solo shot in the sixth, a JD Martinez solo shot in the seventh, and another Pearce homer in the eighth, which gave Boston a 5-1 lead.

Price pitched the game of his life, going seven innings striking out five while only giving up one run and three hits along with picking up the win.

Joe Kelly’s inning in relief was a gem as he struck out the side leaving a four-run hole for the Dodgers to climb in the ninth.

But Alex Cora did not let them have a chance, as ace Chris Sale made his appearance from the bullpen. Striking out every batter he faced, and finishing the game with putting Manny Machado down to clinch the 2018 World Series.

Steve Pearce claimed the 2018 Willie Mays World Series MVP.
