Gordon Hayward, who only played five minutes this season due to a leg injury after signing with the Boston Celtics , recently underwent surgery and is expected to resume basketball activities in 6-8 weeks.
His surgery removed the plate and screws in his ankle, which will allow his leg to get back in shape. This means that the All-Star forward should be back to full strength in time for training camp, barring any further setbacks.
Hayward, who signed a four-year $37 million contract with the Boston Celtics in July, averaged 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in his final season with the Utah Jazz. He is expected to be a huge piece in Boston’s system, along with fellow All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Al Horford.
In other injury news, Aron Baynes completed a successful surgery as well to repair his nose and will be out for 2-4 weeks. Baynes broke his nose in the second half of game six in the Eastern Conference Finals, but the public had no knowledge of it until the Celtics were eliminated.
