It may not be over for one of the most outspoken offensive weapons in the National Football League.

Tight end Martellus Bennett in an interview on the Bill Simmons podcast that there’s a possibility that the Super Bowl winning tight end would indeed be back with the New England Patriots this coming season.

“I mean, yeah, it came up in conversation,” Bennett said on the podcast.

If that doesn’t make fans of the team more intrigued, Bennett also reportedly still talks to quarterback Tom Brady almost daily through text messaging and Instagram direct message.

Regardless, though Bennett says that he is contemplating retirement but at the same time loves football and would also love to play.

“So it’s just like where am I in a mental capacity overall? I don’t have to play. I play football because it’s fun,” Bennett said via NESN. “I enjoy stiff-arming people, jumping over people and competing with my friends and things like that. I’ve been working out, preparing to play.”

A Bennett return would be strong insurance in case tight end Rob Gronkowski decides to indeed retire. Another possibility would be the return of the dual tight end set consisting of Gronkowski and Bennett that the Patriots failed to achieve last season with Dwayne Allen.
