Holy Cross Downed 70-54 by Manhattan in Northeatern Irelandby Nate Rollins December 1, 2017 0 comments
It’s not everyday you get to play in Ireland, but Holy Cross and Manhattan got that opportunity on Friday as the two teams opened up the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic.
Unfortunately for the Crusaders, it was a game they’d probably like to forget as they were dealt a 70-54 defeat at the hands of the Jaspers.
Holy Cross dug itself a into a fairly large hole in the first half as the Jaspers connected on 52 percent of their field goals, and closed the frame on a 13-6 run, taking a 39-23 advantage into the break.
After a Connor Niego 3-pointer sliced the Crusaders’ deficit to 39-26 to begin the second, Manhattan countered with a 13-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Caleb Green paced the Crusaders, who have dropped four straight, with 11 points.
Holy Cross will continue play in the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. against La Salle (4-4).
