Boston College was able to hang with Providence through the midway point in the first half, but the Friars pulled away en route to an 86-66 victory on Saturday.
With 9:47 remaining in the first half, Deontae Hawkins connected on a 3-pointer to push the Eagles in front, 23-20.
However, Providence answered with a 19-6 run – capped off by a Jalen Lindsey 3-pointer with 3:27 left before halftime – to go ahead 39-29 and never looked back.
Hawkins led the Eagles with a 19 points and 12 boards. Ky Bowman chipped in 19 points and Jerome Robinson added 12 – on 3 of 12 shooting from the floor – in the loss.
BC was outshot 59.3 to 43.1 percent.
The Eagles will be back on the court against Nebraska (4-2) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday at 9:15 p.m.
