Harvard Outlasts MIT, 73-64

There are a lot of high expectations surrounding Harvard, and Friday night it took to the court for its first action of the season.

The Crimson, despite never trailing, was given a bit of a scare from MIT but held on for a 73-64 victory.

Up 47-36 after a Henry Welsh layup with 14:42 remaining, the Crimson offense fell dormant.

Harvard went the next 4:06 without a single point, as MIT climbed back into this one to slice its deficit to two, 49-47.

However, the Crimson held strong on the defense end, and the offense came alive, as they pulled ahead 57-51 with 6:06 to go.

Two Corey Johnson free throws with nine seconds left made it a 73-64 final.

Harvard forced MIT into 19 turnovers in the win.

Seth Towns buoyed the Crimson offense with a game-high 19 points. Chris Lewis added 13 points and 10 boards and Bryce Aiken netted 12 points.

Harvard remains home to face UMass (1-0) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
