John Farrell was fired by the team he managed for five years, the Boston Red Sox, on Oct. 11th.

Since then, there have been numerous speculations of who may take over this recently vacated job position. But, it appears that the search has been narrowed down to one man: Alex Cora.

Cora is serving as bench coach for the pennant-seeking Houston Astros. He played for the Red Sox from 2005-08.

On Sunday, Cora met with Dave Dombrowski, the President of Baseball Operations, in regards to the job.

“There is a 99.9% chance of being named Red Sox leader. They want him for the job,” said an unknown source to the El Nuevo Dia.

The 41-year old Puerto Rican native is, however, set to meet with the New York Mets front office, also about a managerial job on Tuesday.
