LeBron James tipped his cap to the Boston Celtics’ faithful ahead of his Cleveland Cavaliers’ matchup against the Boston Celtics in Game No. 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

“I don’t think Boston fans need any more pumping up,” James said via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com during a Wednesday morning Cavs’ shootaround. “They’re born with ‘pump,’ if that makes any sense.”

Game No. 1 against the Celtics will be the first postseason game for James and Cavaliers in 10 days. “These fans and this atmosphere and this team that we’re playing against should put us right back where we need to be,” James said of the matchup in Boston.

LeBron has plenty of experience with Celtics’ fans as this Eastern Conference Finals marks his sixth playoff series against Boston, the most times James has faced any team in the playoffs.

The five prior postseasons showdowns have spanned 29 games, with James going 17-12 in those contests. The last James versus Boston matchup was in 2015, with “The King’s” Cavs sweeping a seventh seeded Celtics’ squad in four games.
