Week 8 of the NFL season is officially in the books. Here’s a weekly look back at the week that was in the NFL.
Rivers Rollin’
In Sunday’s matchup Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns, in their rout of the Lions. Combined with the Titans’ loss the Colts are tied for the AFC South Division lead.
Dalvin Cookin’
In a game against their rivals and division-leading Green Bay Packers, the Vikings running back, Dalvin Cook had a day. He tallied 163 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He also added a receiving touchdown, in a game he was questionable to even play in.
Rookie Winnin’
Cincinnati Bengals rookie signal-caller Joe Burrow threw a pair of touchdowns in the team’s upset win over the Titans. His offensive line kept him upright all day as well.
Don’t Know Losin’
The Pittsburgh Steelers remained undefeated. In Sunday’s game against their division rival the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers defense that played a solid game yet again, survived a Ravens game-winning drive as time expired.
No No Newton
With the ball and time running out, the New England Patriots were in position for a game-tying field goal attempt, Cam Newton kept the ball and picked up yardage. But he was stripped of the ball, sealing the victory for the Buffalo Bills.
DK and Mr. Wilson
MVP front runner Russell Wilson threw four more touchdown passes in Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers. His receiver D.K. Metcalf tallied 161 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
4th Quarter, Lock’d in
The Denver Broncos were down 24-3 to the Los Angeles Chargers hallway through the third quarter. Broncos quarterback Drew Lock, threw three fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the game-winner as time expired.
Field Goals a Missin’
Saints’ Wil Lutz, Raiders’ Daniel Carlson, Bears’ Cody Parkey, and Titans’ Stephen Gostkowski all had a missed field goal attempt. Although more than one could be attributed to wind conditions in various locations.
Made a Case to Remain a Falcon
With rumors swirling that the Atlanta Falcons were on the brink of holding a clearance sale at the trade deadline. Julio Jones and Matt Ryan responded on Thursday night. Jones had seven catches for 137 yards. Ryan threw for 281 yards. He also added 27 rushing yards. He only had 31 yards rushing total in his career prior.
While the Eagles are NFL East Leadin’
The Eagles survived a pair of Carson Wentz interceptions and a pair of fumbles. Their defense held the Dallas Cowboys to just three field goals. Through their last two games, the Cowboys have only mustered nine field goals.
