Week 7 of the NFL season is officially in the books. Here is the weekly look back at the week that was in the NFL.
Turf Monster at the Linc
Giants quarterback Daniel Jones broke off a spectacular run in the third quarter of Thursday’s game against the Eagles. After it looked like nobody would catch him on an 88-yard touchdown dash, Jones tripped himself up on the eight yard line. That was the epitome of the Giants season in a play. The Eagles pulled out a one point victory.
Déjà Vu in Big D
In his second game as the Cowboys starter, Andy Dalton was constantly under duress against Washington. Then on a scramble deep in their own territory, Dalton slid and Washington defender Jon Bostic dove into him head first. Bostic was ejected and Dalton was done for the game and likely longer as he is in concussion protocol.
Steelers Supreme
A missed game-tying field goal by Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski in the waning seconds made the Pittsburgh Steelers the lone undefeated team in the NFL. The game was one-sided in favor of Pittsburgh, who at one point held a 24-7 lead. Mike Vrabel‘s team battled back before the missed attempt ended the Titans’ comeback.
Rodgers Back on Track
A week after his Packers got beaten by the Buccaneers by 28 points, Aaron Rodgers got his team back into the win column. Rodgers threw four touchdown passes including two to Davante Adams in the victory over the Texans.
Battle of Ohio: Part Two
Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield tossed five touchdowns, while Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw three and ran for another. For the second time this season, the Browns edge out a narrow victory versus their intrastate rivals.
Brady Victorious in “Chucky Bowl”
Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns in the 45-20 victory for his new team in the Tampa Buccaneers, Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden’s former team. Gruden’s former team defeated his current team in Super Bowl 37 after his current team became his former team the first time around.
Even MVPs Have Hiccups
In Sunday night’s overtime loss to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals, Seahawks quarterback and MVP front-runner Russell Wilson threw a trio of interceptions including the crusher in overtime. He also threw an easy pick-six to Budda Baker on the two-yard line that DK Metcalf chased down 90 yards later after starting 10 yards behind the pick, saving a touchdown.
Got You a Win, Almost Had it
The Buffalo Bills offense led by Josh Allen didn’t score a touchdown. The winless New York Jets held their division rivals to field goals for four quarters. The only problem was that it was six field goals, which unfortunately added up to more than the 10 points the Jets scored.
No Longer Elusive
For the first time in five attempts, Chargers rookie Justin Herbert got his inaugural NFL victory. He tallied 347 yards and three touchdowns through the air, and also ran for another.
No Snow Field Advantage
On a day that featured light snow throughout in Denver, the visiting Chiefs had no problems. They scored on offense, the defense chipped in a pick-six of Drew Lock, and the special teams added a 102-yard kick return in the 43-16 rout.
