10 Takeaways From Week 3 of the 2020 NFL Season: Part 2

Week 3 of the NFL season is officially in the books. Here’s a weekly look back at the week that was in the NFL.

Since the week was both crazy and wild, 10 takeaways just wouldn’t do it enough justice. This week, we’re going with 20 takeaways broken up into two parts.

300 Tres Equals 3-0

Bills quarterback Josh Allen eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark for the third time in as many games. What makes it that much more impressive is the last Bills quarterback to have three 300-yard games in a season was Kyle Orton in 2014.

On Pace for 75

Russell Wilson has 14 passing touchdowns through the first three games, including an NFL-first back-to-back five-touchdown games. He is on pace for 75 touchdowns. That may finally earn Wilson his long-awaited first MVP award.

Your Uniforms Aren’t Blue

The Indianapolis Colts’ defense tormented the New York Jets’ offense all game long. The unit accounted for 16 points on the scoreboard after not one but two pick-sixes of Sam Darnold, as well as a safety, which will likely lead to the Fire Adam Gase chatter getting louder in New York this week.

Two Watts Better Than One

Pittsburgh’s victory over the Texans featured the first time three brothers played in the same game. T.J. Watt and Derek Watt came away with the win against big brother J.J. Watt.

Tri-Rex-Ta in New England

Patriots running back Rex Burkhead accounted for three total touchdowns in Sunday’s victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Those lucky enough to start him in their fantasy line-up this week feel like geniuses.

Vintage Brady

Tom Brady threw three touchdown passes in the Buccaneers’ 28-10 win over the Denver Broncos, including two to wide receiver Mike Evans. Brady finished the game just three yards shy of 300 through the air.

Okay, He Redeemed Himself

Tennessee Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski, whose kicking woes in Week 1 almost cost the team that game as he left 10 points off the board, went a perfect six-for-six on Sunday against the Vikings, connecting on three from 50-plus, including a 55-yard game-winner.

Losing Streak Ends at 11

The Detroit Lions snapped their double-digit losing streak on Matt Prater‘s field goal as time expired against the Arizona Cardinals.

2,500 and Counting

Sunday night’s game featured a matchup between a pair of future first-ballot Hall of Fame signal-callers in Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees. However, it was Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins who reached a milestone of his own as he surpassed 2,500 consecutive defensive snaps played. The last time he missed a snap on defense was in November 2017.

Another Accomplishment

Patrick Mahomes is now over 10,000 passing yards in his career, making him the fastest to reach the 10,000-yard mark. He did it in 34 games. Kurt Warner previously held the record with 36 games.
