10 Takeaways From Week 14 of the 2020 NFL Season

10 Takeaways From Week 14 of the 2020 NFL Season

Here’s a look back at the week that was Week 14 in the NFL.

Back-to-Back

Just two weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were flirting with perfection. But since then they have lost back-to-back games, this week to the Buffalo Bills. Bills quarterback Josh Allen continued to make his case for MVP consideration.

Division Champs Yet Again

After falling behind to the Miami Dolphins, the Kansas City Chiefs rallied back to get the win. That victory clinched the AFC West title for the fifth consecutive season for Andy Reid‘s team.

Express Runs Through

Leading up to the matchup between the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars, much was said that running back Derrick Henry has had big games against the Jaguars, but never in Jacksonville. On Sunday the Henry Express changed that with over 200 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns. He extended his lead for his second rushing title in a row. Also with this performance he has a legitimate shot at Eric Dickerson‘s single season record. He needs to rush for 174 yards in each of the teams last three games.

New Kings of the East

Washington, behind a solid defensive effort, especially rookie Chase Young, held off a late game drive to defeat the San Francisco 49ers. Combined with a loss by the Giants, Washington is in first place.

Bittersweet Revenge

Current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton went back to Cincinnati to face his old team. Dalton looked the best he has since taking over for the injured Dak Prescott. His passes were accurate and his decision making was quick. Maybe coach Mike McCarthy gave him a little more control against his former club.

Back to Form

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks were coming off of an upset loss to the New York Giants. Like the previous 13 teams the perfect remedy after a bad game is to take on the New York Jets. The game was out of hand to the point where backup quarterback Geno Smith got some playing time against his former team.

QB Change may Have Been too Late

The Philadelphia Eagles started rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts against the New Orleans Saints. In his first NFL start, he was victorious against the top defense in the league. Head coach Doug Pederson has already said that they will be sticking with him under center in Week 15.

Well Rested after Bye

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were fresh off of their late-season bye week, looking like the team they were on paper prior to the season. Tom Brady was refreshed and led his team to the win.

Packed for January

The Green Bay Packers held off the Detroit Lions, who had a chance at an upset. Combined with the loss by the Saints the Packers move a step closer to locking up the NFC’s top seed.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s the Reigning MVP

Monday night saw a high-scoring back-and-forth affair between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned from the locker room after his backup was also injured. His first play after returning was a touchdown strike on fourth down. He later led his team in position for Justin Tucker to kick the game-winner after the Browns had tied the game.
